Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Open the Template

  1. Download and Locate the File: After purchasing, download the template file and save it to an easy-to-find location on your device.

  2. Launch Affinity Photo 2: Open the software on your computer.

  3. Open the Template: Navigate to File > Open, locate your downloaded template, and click Open.

Step 2: Add Your Photo (to embedded photo layer)

  1. Locate the Embedded Photo Layer: Most templates will have a labeled layer (ex, "Photo" or "Photo 1"). Embedded layer will have the below symbol next to the layer in the layers menu.

Step 2 B: Add Your Photo (to image photo layer)

  1. Locate the Image Photo Layer: Most templates will have a labeled layer (ex, "Photo" or "Photo 1"). Image layer will have the below symbol next to the layer in the layers menu.

Step 3: Customize the Design

  1. Replace the Image:

    • Select the Image Layer

    • Choose Your Photo: With the photo layer selected, click the Replace Image button in the tools menu. Then select your file, and it will replace the original photo layer.

    • Adjust the Image:

      • Drag the anchor box to resize or reposition the photo. Pull the corners to scale maintain proportions. Pull the middle anchors to distort image.

  1. Customize Your Design: Most designs will still remain highly editable. From Color Fill, Textures, to Adjustment layers, Live Filters, and so much more. Feel free to experiment to find the perfect blend for your vision!

Step 4: Finalize and Export

  1. Review Your Design:

    • Zoom in and check for alignment, resolution, and any tweaks you want to make.

  2. Export Your File:

    • Go to File > Export.

    • Select your desired format (e.g., JPEG for print, PNG for digital use).

    • Adjust resolution settings if needed (300 DPI is recommended for high-quality prints).

    • Click Export and save your design.

Tips for Success

  • Save Frequently: Save your work as a .afphoto file to retain layers, and edits for future adjustments.

  • Use High-Resolution Photos: Ensure your images are at least 300 DPI for the best print quality (and the right size for design).

  • Experiment Freely: Duplicate the template file to try different styles without losing your original design.

  1. Replace the Embedded Image:

    • Double click the Embedded Layer: The embedded photo/document will open in a new Affinity Photo window.

    • Choose Your Photo: Browse your files, select your desired image, and drag and drop it into the new window. Your photo will automatically be added as a new layer to the embedded photo document. -OR- Select the photo layer and click the Replace Image button in the tools menu. Then select your file, and it will replace the original photo layer.

    • Adjust the Image:
